using a state-of-the-art, NATA
registered laboratory and highly qualified staff who
deliver prompt and attentive service. Our friendly,
personal approach to service ensures we build close
working relationships with our clients, ultimately allowing
us to 'walk in their shoes'
and better understand their testing needs.
ETS
has testing laboratories in Cairns and Townsville allowing
us to cover a substantial service area that includes
Mid West Queensland, North Queensland, The Cape and
Torres Strait.

Supervision
Works in Accordance with AS3798
ETS is able to supervise
and certify ‘engineered fill’ in accordance
with level 1 supervision asper AS3798-1996. ETS
has experienced geotechnicians who have the expertise
to observe the works on site, offer recommendations
for fill placement. Our field technicians have nuclear
gauge licenses to take field density and moisture content
readings; alternately sand replacement testing can be
carried out. If required, our experienced geotechnicians
are supported in the field by engineering staff, who
may be engaged to review designs in the field, and provide
recommendations on a variety of geotechnical issues.
On completion of the supervision works a report will
be issued, outlining the level of supervision and summarising
field density and laboratory testing. On completion
of the level 1 supervision works the repost issued will
be able to be submitted to the council as proof that
the fill was placed as per specification (provided the
client strives to meet specification standard). By carrying
out Level 1 supervision the client is able to reduce
their risk and pass the risk to the signing off body.
Subsurface
Investigations
Subsurface investigations including boreholes, cone
penetration tests, test pits, hand augers, dynamic cone
penetrometer testing and hand auguring will be performed
by experienced Geotechnicians and/or Geotechnical Engineers.
ETS have extensive experience in planning and
executing fieldwork investigations to help the client
achieve their aims. ETS
also has a good working knowledge of the local and state
government bodies, and associated permits required to
carry
out subsoil investigations.

Geotechnical Engineering
ETS Townsville have recently engaged geotechnical engineer
Dr Kate Johnson who has four years of local experience.
The geotechnical engineering arm of ETS will focus on
providing practical geotechnical solutions within a
reasonable timeframe.
Our geotechnical engineers are able to offer recommendations
and details for building foundations, site classifications,
basement design, steep slope stability, landslide hazard
zoning, retaining walls and acid sulphate soil investigations.
Designs and recommendations will be
based on site walkovers, subsoil investigations and
local knowledge.
